Andrew “Drew” Leung is a Los Angeles based artist, filmmaker, and concept designer for Anihaus Inc. His film, “The Chemical Factory,” an animated documentary about the Chinese Cultural Revolution and its intersection with the recent spate of violence toward Asians in America, won best animated film at Doc LA 2021 and the Socially Relevant Film Festival of New York 2022.
His more recent commercial work includes feature films like Wakanda Forever, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, and Skeleton Crew: A Star Wars Story. Leung had his start in the film industry as a matte painter for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. His varied past in visual effects (Pushing Daisies TV series, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Avatar, and Team America: World Police) and feature animation (formerly 20th Century Fox Blue Sky Studios) brings special insight into story driven design combined with visual effects expertise and real-time visualization.
Leung has received Certificates of Appreciation from the The Art Directors Guild for Oscar winning movies La La Land and Black Panther; and has appeared in multiple publications of Spectrum Fantastic Art. His large Battle Scene keyframe from Mulan won best Environment Art for Lightbox 2021 Expo.
